Chiropractic is an art, science, and philosophy that embraces a natural, drug-free approach to healthcare. The human body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism that is designed to function in a vibrant, healthy state.
All vital functions in the human body are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The skull houses and protects the brain, while the vertebrae of the spinal column house and protect the spinal cord and connecting nerve structures. If the nervous system is impaired, it can affect proper functioning of muscles, tissues, and organs throughout the body. Chiropractic is the science and art of locating and correcting what is known as the Vertebral Subluxation Complex, to assist the body in its own inherent healing process. Since the primary focus of chiropractic care is on restoration of normal nervous system function, chiropractic can have a positive effect on many health conditions in addition to neck and back pain.
Chiropractors view health as a triad composed of structural, chemical and mental factors and should be in balance to form an equilateral triangle. When a person experiences poor health, one of the three factors of the triad is always involved.
