My own journey of becoming a mother 5 years ago has been so rich and transformative and miraculous that it feels very close to my heart to support other moms. That is why I have been focusing a big part of my private practice on working with pregnant moms, postpartum moms and their babies.
I have been a Massage Therapist for 13 years and a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist for 8 years. I am certified in prenatal, labor support and postpartum massage. In addition I am trained in working with issues around trauma, helping the body and nervous system release effects of stress and past trauma. I also teach prenatal and other yoga in the Boulder area.
Pregnancy, giving birth and raising children pose such huge demands on women’s bodies – physically, emotionally and in many other ways. In my work with a pregnant mom I focus on helping her body relax and reduce pains and discomforts through massage. I use Craniosacral Therapy to help her nervous system settle and relax deeply, which is very supportive and important for her baby. Much research has shown that stress that mom carries can affect her baby in the womb and beyond. Craniosacral Therapy is also a great tool to commune with the baby energetically. I use my skills from Trauma Therapy to help her release fears and experiences from the past that might surface during pregnancy.
After she has given birth I support the new mom in the same way, helping her to process the birth experience, gain strength and deal with the demands of having a newvborn.
For the baby, Craniosacral Therapy is a wonderful way to help him or her transition into this world. It can help to process the birth, especially if there were any challenges, and to allow the bones of the skull to open and find their place. Craniosacral Therapy has often been helpful with fussiness, colic, trouble nursing, trouble sleeping and many other symptoms. It is very gentle and can be performed right after birth and later on.
